03 / Company activity & employee giving

One place.
Two perspectives.

A company-connected PAC and people reporting that employer can give differently. TerraCivic keeps the two patterns separate so each stays in its own context.

01 / THE MEASURE

Giving is not voting.

Contribution records describe donations. They cannot establish ballots, party registration, the views of a whole workforce, or which donors work at a mapped branch. That is a limit of our analysis.

02 / THE COVERAGE

A reported field. A partial picture.

Employer information can be incomplete, and the individual bulk file covers a subset of itemized contributions. Employee giving does not represent every worker or donation. FEC reporting guidance · FEC file coverage

03 / THE DISTINCTION

Connected. Still separate.

A corporate connected PAC is a separate fund receiving voluntary contributions. Its political contributions are not automatically corporate treasury payments. Employee and PAC totals are different measures, never one combined score. FEC connected-PAC guidance

Employee giving uses grouped reported-employer totals, with no personal donor profiles. A result requires at least 25 distinct reported contributors overall and 10 in each visible party group; the app shows only broad contributor-size buckets. Percentages describe DEM/REP dollars separately from Company/PAC activity.

05 / Public campaign-finance records

Evidence first.
Perspective is yours.

Built for Democrats, Republicans, independents, and the politically curious. The same public-data starting point, whichever way you see the world.

Two separate records.

Company/PAC profiles use qualifying connected-PAC activity. Employee giving is a separate privacy-protected reported-employer aggregate. Verified owner activity is not yet available.

A match has limits.

A brand match does not prove local franchise ownership. Missing businesses are not necessarily neutral. Coverage is selective, not a complete business directory.

Context without profiles.

TerraCivic does not publish individual contributor names, addresses, personal contact information, or personal donor profiles.

Federal information comes from periodic FEC bulk-data snapshots, not live records. DEM, REP, and EVEN are TerraCivic analytical labels—not FEC classifications or endorsements.

Read our data sources & privacy policy
How do I find political contributions associated with businesses near me?

Open the political contributions map and allow location access, or search an address, city, or ZIP. Start with a ten-mile radius, then adjust your area. Results show locations matched to qualifying Company/PAC or Employee giving profiles in the selected view.

Which businesses support Democrats or Republicans?

TerraCivic compares recorded Democratic and Republican company/PAC contribution totals. Blue means more qualifying dollars went to Democratic committees; red means more went to Republican committees. Purple marks an exact tie. These patterns describe recorded political contributions, not a company’s beliefs, endorsement, or a local franchise owner’s affiliation.

Does TerraCivic show employee or business-owner donations?

Employee giving is available as a separate, grouped reported-employer layer. It never shows personal donor details, exact contributor counts, or branch-level employment claims. Results require at least 25 distinct contributors overall and 10 in each visible party group. Verified owner activity is not currently available. Company/PAC profiles use PACs linked to their registered connected organizations; the contributions are not necessarily money spent directly from a company’s treasury.

How does the company and employee comparison work?

Company/PAC remains the default. Employee giving shows grouped donations associated with a reported employer name. Compare uses a Company/PAC center and an employee outer ring, with separate totals and source periods in the ledger and PDF. The two measures are never added into one political score. Unavailable evidence stays unavailable; it does not imply neutrality.

Would employee giving show how employees vote?

No. Campaign-finance records describe reported contributions, not ballots or party registration. Our analysis could not establish the views of all employees or staff at a particular branch. Employer fields can be incomplete, and the FEC individual bulk file includes only a subset of itemized contributions.

Where does the campaign-finance data come from?

Federal profiles use periodic public bulk-data snapshots from the Federal Election Commission (FEC). They summarize qualifying connected-PAC contributions, net of supported refunds. These are selective snapshots, not live or complete political-spending records. The in-app FAQ explains the snapshot dates and matching method.

Why isn’t every nearby business on the map?

Only locations matched to qualifying Company/PAC or Employee giving profiles appear in the selected view. Coverage is selective, and a missing business does not mean it is politically neutral. Matching a business or brand name also does not establish local ownership.

Can I download nearby business results for a trip?

Yes. Open the nearby results drawer and select PDF to save the current list. Company names use their map color, and your selected area and filters are included. Keep the PDF on your phone or print it; new searches need a connection.
